Significantly more snow has fallen than forecast; at lower altitudes it lies on a completely moist old snowpack, on the glaciers the old snowpack is quite well consolidated!
You need to watch out for a buried layer of graupel, which at high altitude may form a weak layer and act as a sliding surface for slab avalanches.
