The amount of fresh snow yesterday, 24.07.2011, at the Schrimmennieder 2706m was max. 5 cm! The problem is not the amount of fresh snow but the snow-covered waymarks, which naturally make route-finding harder, as well as the slippery path! It was also quite windy and bitterly cold on the col. At present only experienced mountain hikers should really attempt the crossing.
In general we would point out that the entire high-level trail is a demanding alpine mountain hike requiring good fitness, sure-footedness and a head for heights. Quite a few sections are secured with wire ropes!
