Because of the low precipitation during the winter months, there should already be good hiking conditions around the Solsteinhaus at the start of the season.
As things stand today, the normal route up the Großer Solstein and the Erlspitze are no longer a problem. As is to be expected at this time of year, however, you will still come across snowfields.
The hut approaches from Scharnitz and Hochzirl can be walked normally. On the routes over the Eppzirler Scharte and to the Kuhljochspitze, on the other hand, you will still encounter a lot of snowfields and steep snow gullies; good alpine experience is a prerequisite for a safe ascent here!
For the moment we still advise against the Gipfelstürmerweg and the Freyungen Höhenweg.
The route via the Zirler Schützensteig to the new Magdeburgerhütte is quite doable.
The climbing gardens, the climbing wall and the Flying Fox will be open for you again from 21 May.

On our homepage www.solsteinhaus.at we have installed a panorama image from our webcam, and in the near future we also plan to present the tours on our homepage via Google Earth. On the homepage you will find some photos from the hut visit on 11 May 2010. (also on Facebook Solsteinhaus)
For the first weekends there are still enough free places at the moment. We would be delighted if you decide at short notice to spend a weekend at the Solsteinhaus. We will gladly answer any further questions by phone or e-mail.
From 17 to 20 May you can reach us by phone at the Solsteinhaus in the early evening!
We wish you a lovely summer and look forward to welcoming you at the Solsteinhaus.
